During my study abroad trip throughout Greece in August, I was able to create a series of art that morphed Greek culture with my own experience throughout the trip. Over the course of three weeks, I had the opportunity to travel to the mainland of Greece encompassing Athens, Delphi, Arachova, and Hosios Loukas, to then travel to some cities within the islands including Spetses, Hydra, Aptera, Chania, Heraklion, Knossos, Plaka, and Spinalonga.

From feeling as “heavy as rocks” when swimming in the Mediterranean waters in Heavy Under Pressure to the impolite stares received from others on an island known for donkey transportation in Staring at Obscurities, I presented my experience honestly throughout my drawings, collages, and maskmaking.
