Karegos, originally a nickname alias for Gio Betancourt (they/them/elle), now encompasses even more.

In a contemporary world built on binaries of gender, race, sexual orientation, and ability that divide and categorize humans, I condemn them. I look to tear apart these systems present in our society, and look within the human soul, outwardly representing narratives that are erased and undereppresented. From this foundation blossoms a new understanding of the spirit within us all, one without category, one without discrimination. Evolving from surrealist themes that embrace decolonial feminisms, and deconstruct gendered systems of colonialism that exist today, I represent the unknown, the unfamiliar, and the other. Diving further away from normative behaviors, values, and beliefs, my interest peaks within the fluidity of reality by creating entirely new creatures and ideas, influenced from distinct aspects of history, objects, and people. The mission will always be to support minority-owned businesses, educate the population, and promote unpeeling the devalued histories of oppressed transgender, indigenous, queer people of color.
